The dominant housing type is the single-story brick ranch on a modest lot - homes that were built quickly in large numbers and are now well into their second generation of ownership. The city sits about 20 miles west of downtown Detroit, bordered by Dearborn Heights, Garden City, Wayne, and Canton Township. Ford Road (Michigan Route 153) and Warren Avenue are the two main east-west corridors that most residents use daily.
